Taverna Server 2.5 released

The Taverna team are pleased to announce the release of Taverna Server 2.5.

Taverna Server 2.5 represents a major upgrade in capabilities over Taverna Server 2.4. In particular, we now support:

  • Taverna 2.5.0 Workflow Execution Engine, Enterprise edition
  • Generation of Run Bundles containing Workflow Provenance; the bundles are based on the Research Object Bundle specification, and comply with the W3C PROV-O provenance specification
  • Improved ATOM feed of workflow events
  • Significantly faster and more stable

Looking for a client? We recommend Taverna Player for Ruby-on-Rails, which makes using the interaction service significantly simpler.

Basic Installation

Download the Taverna Server 2.5.4 WAR and deploy it into a Tomcat/Java7 installation on Unix. You may want to configure the permissions and HTTPS before letting users loose on it, but very little configuration is required.

Known issues / Reporting problems

Although Taverna 2.5.0 contains many improvements there are some known issues with it. These are detailed in our issue tracker JIRA. If you wish to report an issue, please email our support address.

Licence and source code

Taverna Server is distributed under the LGPL 2.1 licence.

The source code for Taverna Server can be retrieved from our git repository on GitHub. We also recommend you to sign up to the taverna-hackers mailing list if you are a developer.
