Collaboration on Workflow Stability

The fact that a workflow once ran correctly does not mean that it will always run correctly. Several projects are investigating how problems with a workflow can be avoided or detected.

The Taverna team are taking an interest in the work of the CARMEN project at the University of Newcastle. CARMEN is taking the approach of allowing the archiving of the whole context in which the workflow was run.

The University of Southampton and the Taverna team (as part of the myExperiment team) worked together to specify and develop a Workflow Monitor service that can detect changes in the functionality of the services within a workflow. It is planned to interface the monitor to myExperiment.

This work was informed by the BioMoby “pinger” service and the WssDAT tool from Newcastle.
