Plugins in progress

Various plugins are currently being developed (or updated to work with the latest Taverna release) by third parties in collaboration with the Taverna team.

e-LICO

A plugin for Taverna 2.2 is being developed as part of the e-Lico project.

The plugin will allow users to specify the data mining goal that they want to achieve and the type of data that it will operate on.  The plugin then talks to the eProPlan developed at the University of Zurich.  A set of workflows that can achieve the goal is returned; the workflow chosen by the user can be included in a workflow to perform the data mining goal.

The enactment of the data mining makes use of Rapid Miner services – http://rapid-i.com/.

The plugin is under development by Simon Jupp, Rishi Ramgolam and Alan Williams of the University of Manchester.

AIDA

AIDA plugin, based on AIDA Search and Storage components, helps Taverna users during workflow editing. Currently it provides search functionality for myExperiment workflows, as well as knowledge resources contained in an RDF repository. It will soon allow users to annotate workflow components using concepts, classes and query results from the AIDA Thesaurus Browser.

Plugin exists for Taverna 1.7.1 and Taverna 2.0/2.1 and is being updated for Taverna 2.2.

e-Science Central

A Taverna plugin is being developed that allows e-Science Central workflows to be included as services within a Taverna workflow. The work is being carried out by a joint team from the University of Manchester and e-Science Central and is being led by Paolo Missier. Future work will include the calling of Taverna workflows from within an e-Science Central workflow, and the merging of provenance information between the two execution environments.
